Patent Bots in Action: Gen AI Review

We've all been there - staring at a patent application until our eyes glaze over, failing to catch typos, grammar, and punctuation errors that even Word might miss.

That’s why Patent Bots recently implemented a new Gen AI Review tool that finds these kinds of errors for you. Even better, Gen AI is REALLY good at this so nearly all of its suggestions are correct. Your clients will be impressed when you have no typos in your drafts, and you will save time and money by avoiding certificates of correction.

Accessed directly through the Proofreading tool in the Patent Bots Word Add-In, Gen AI Review scans your entire patent application. Results appear in the Patent Bots panel with intuitive color coding so you know exactly what needs attention. Click any result to accept the changes, and your document updates instantly.

Check it out in the video below and see for yourself how Gen AI Review can improve your patent drafting workflow. Then give it a try, along with the other Patent Bots tools, with your free, two-week trial.

Patent Bots Turns Eight

It’s our birthday month! Patent Bots is officially eight years old.

To celebrate, we’re taking a look back at how things have changed and grown over the years - all made possible thanks to our great customers, advisors, and countless other supporters.

February 2018. The Philadelphia Eagles defeated the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl. The Winter Olympics took place in Pyeongchang, South Korea. Black Panther dominated the box office. And Jeff O’Neill had grown increasingly frustrated with the patent tools available and decided to build his own. Thus, Patent Bots was born.

That first year, Jeff was the only employee. He served as lead developer, sales person, and customer support specialist, while also maintaining his own patent practice. In those first days, Patent Bots had just two products to offer - patent proofreading and examiner stats. Yet by the end of 2018, the company had 13 customers using them.

Here we are now in February 2026. This year, the Seattle Seahawks defeated the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl. The Winter Olympics are underway, this time in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo. It’s too early to know which movie will dominate the box office, but so far Wuthering Heights has done well.

As for Patent Bots, we’re now five employees strong. We have six products (check them out if you haven’t already), and 479 customers using them (a number that is growing every day).

Along the way, we’ve accepted $0 in outside funding, which has given us the freedom to focus on longer-term goals, chief among them maintaining the highest product quality and focusing on the needs of our users. Our success is measured in big wins and small ones, challenges and fun, but most importantly in the number of patent attorneys we help every day. We’re in it for the long haul with our customers and not for what’s new and shiny and attractive to investors.

Thank you for your support and for being part of the journey.  Here’s to the next eight years and beyond!

New Gen AI Tools for Drafting

The Gen AI features just keep on coming! The Patent Bots Word add-in now has two tools to assist you with drafting patent applications - Gen AI Chat for Drafting and Gen AI Prompts for Drafting. Both are designed to help you take advantage of Gen AI technology for maximum efficiency when drafting patent applications.

Gen AI Chat for Drafting

We recently announced this new feature, which lets you ask a question and get a response from a Gen AI assistant directly within Word when drafting. Then, with just one click, you can insert the AI-generated content directly into your Word document.

Gen AI Prompts for Drafting

We’ve added a new tab in drafting, Gen AI Prompts. With this tool, you can upload your own custom Gen AI prompts, enabling you to use the same prompts consistently across all of your work.

To help you get started, Patent Bots has provided a few standard prompts to assist with the Title, Abstract, and Background sections. These are simple prompts to generate those portions of your applications using the text of your claims.

Attach an Invention Disclosure

For both drafting options, you now have the option to attach an invention disclosure document to provide the Gen AI assistants with additional information so they can provide better responses. For both, Patent Bots will automatically provide the AI assistants with the content of your patent application and invention disclosure document (if you choose to attach one) so that the assistant has the information it needs.

Patent Bots operates with a zero data retention infrastructure, so nothing you share is logged, stored, or used for training.

Patent Bots in Action: Share a PatentLink List

PatentLink from Patent Bots lets you build interactive lists of patents for more efficient management, analysis, and oversight.

Today, we’re taking a closer look at this tool and just how easy it is to share a PatentLink list. With the sharing feature, you can generate a link to the list to send to your client or other relevant parties. The link is accessible even if the user is not a Patent Bots customer and enables the recipient to view the information on the list. For security, the link expires after seven days.

This feature makes PatentLink ideal when working with clients who frequently ask for updates on their portfolio. You can build a list with their patents - public and non-public US patents, as well as foreign patents - and have quick access to the latest information, as well as share the list with them. PatentLink is also ideal for in-house teams who don’t have an IPMS, as lists provide an easy way to maintain oversight of the company’s portfolio.

You can also use PatentLink to manage your daily workload, create a list of patents for due diligence or litigation, or even monitor the activity of competitors.

Check it out in the video below, and then try it for yourself with a free, two-week trial of Patent Bots.
